Mayor De Blasio Admits He Lacks
Votes Needed To Ban Carriage Horses

      Almost two years after being elected and promising to shut down the 150 year-old New York City carriage horse industry, Mayor Bill de Blasio has admitted that he does not have enough support from his City Council to get the legislation passed.  The proposed ban, introduced in December 2014, had met with strong resistance from New Yorkers, most of whom enjoy the tradition and believe that the carriage horses are treated fairly and properly.
